Hospital Operations

New England Pathology Associates, P.C. (NEPA) has exclusive contracts with three hospitals in Massachusetts to provide on-site subspecialized pathology services to their medical staffs and medical direction of their laboratories.

NEPA has a contract with Mercy Medical Center (MMC), a 182-bed acute care community hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, that offers a wide range of programs and services. NEPA also has a joint venture with MMC, LifePath Partners, LLC, for co-ownership and operational control of the histology and cytology laboratories. This unique partnership permits direct physician/pathologist management oversight of all technical operations, resulting in excellent quality control and rapid diagnostic reporting for all inpatient and outpatient specimens. The arrangement also provides technical support for NEPA’s outreach services.

NEPA has contracted with Harrington Memorial Hospital, a 113-bed acute care general hospital in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Through Harrington Memorial Hospital, NEPA also provides pathology services to Hubbard Hospital in Webster, Massachusetts. In addition, NEPA has a contract with Noble Hospital, a 97-bed community hospital in Westfield, Massachusetts, to provide diagnostic subspecialty pathology and histology/cytology laboratory services.

These relationships give NEPA a significant presence in central and western Massachusetts.
